As we were returning from our camping trip at Sawmill Flat, I received not one, but two, messages from people wanting to see the trailer. One was local, one was not. When the non-local fellow heard someone else was interested, he hoped in his car and drove 2+ hours to take a look, bringing with him a cash deposit. Sight unseen, he bought it. He showed up a few hours later, confirmed that he really did want it, gave us a down payment, and said he’d be back in a few days to pick it up.
Is it silly that the thing I was most worried about was losing all the stickers we had collected while on our Al-Can trip in 2025? Fortunately, we were able to carefully peel them off, utilizing a heat gun and razor blade, without too much damage. We then pressed them sandwiched between pieces of parchment paper under some heavy books. My plan now is to scan them, and then use the scan as a template to create a wood cutout on the laser, mod-podge them on, and then cover in resin and mount with a magnet. Wish me luck! Ha!
We began earnestly searching for a replacement trailer, and thought we had found one we liked, but it was located 5 hours away. Plans were laid to make the trip to view and most likely purchase said trailer. But as we kept looking for options closer, we came across a 2025 Heartland 17′ Eddie Bauer that was lightly used and only 45 minutes away. The seller was available that afternoon, so off we went to take a look. It checked just about every box we were looking for — usable bathroom, eating area separate from the sleeping area, and a bed with access from either side. Really the only thing it didn’t have that we were looking for was a sink in the bathroom. Best of all, the price was right, several thousand dollars less than what we were prepared to spend by driving across the state for the other trailer. We made the guy an offer of his asking price, which he eagerly accepted. We made arrangements to return a couple days later.
Since then, we figured out storage options for the new trailer, crafted a system to hold bedside lamps in place, made curtains, and cancelled camping plans…yep, we got a new trailer and had to cancel reservations.
We discovered that the campsites we had reserved for Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park were not big enough to accommodate the new trailer AND the truck we had purchased since making those reservations. Oh well, maybe next year!
